Solano County Science and Engineering Fair

Open to All Solano County Middle and High School Students

Grades 6-12

March 28-29

Solano County Office of Education

Solano County Office of Education would like to encourage all Solano County students in grades 6-12 to participate in the fourth countywide Science Fair.  The Solano County Science and Engineering Fair is being hosted by the Solano Count Office of Education March 28-29.  Awards will be cash and prizes.

Qualifying students from this Fair will be eligible to enter the California State Science Fair, held at the California Science Center in Los Angeles in April .

The Science Fair is a competition based on the quality of experiments presented through exhibits.  The purpose of the Science Fair is threefold:

1.       Stimulate an active interest in science,

2.       Provide a quality educational experience (California Science Curriculum guide) and

3.       Give public recognition to talented students for the work they have done in the field of science.

Divisions:

·         High School (grades 9-12)

·         Middle school (grades 6-8)

Within these divisions winners will be chosen in the following categories:

·         Earth/Environmental Science

·         Physical Sciences

·         Life Sciences

·         Plus overall winners of Best of Fair categories

Special Awards may be given based on donations received. 2015 special award was Women in Science. 2016 was Anti Tobacco Project.  We often do not know about these awards until right before the fair, so choose a project you love, not a project you think will win a special award.

There are also Principal's Awards and Honorable Mention.

Please contact the coordinator, Marilyn Lewis at Vanden High School

mlewis@travisusd.org with any questions about the fair or if you want to make a donation towards the fair.  All of our awards come from donations, both community members and businesses.

 No donation is too small!
